Yes, that's my Tee Shirt
Was searching through my wardrobe, for a charity give away,And came across a tee shirt, which was my favourite in it's day.Black, capped sleeves, and a skull with two crossed Gretsch guitars,Emblazoned with Skabilly Rebels, whom I followed in different bars.Holes around the waist, the black faded by the bleach,I wore that shirt with pride from the city to the beach.Along with leather jacket, jeans and double H boots,The rock and rolling greasers, not the kind in suits.A throw back from the Wild Boys, Tearjerkers and Bonediggers,A Special kind of music that two tone may have triggered.Skabilly was the latest, a mix of rockabilly and ska,And because of “Radiation” the music travelled far.The memories from this tee shirt, live with me today,And all the places it has travelled, a shirt you can't betray. It's took me to the front, the stage, the band and more,The autographs and photos, I love the tee shirt to the core. One night at a concert in Blackpool, the rebels lined the stage,Thunder and lightning from the lights and drums, shook the floor with rage. The lights flickered on all our faces, the noise, the heartbeat, the tear,The place erupted to the Munster's theme, the tee shirt got drenched in beer. This is just one memory from the cloth of my loyal band,With stomping on trembling floorboards, with folk clapping hand in hand. The spotlights searched around the arena, a green glow lit our faces,A lot to be said and argued, of the genre that this replaces.I still love this tee shirt and the memories that it holds,The conversation topics it brings, Skabilly broke all moulds. All my chats with the band, our meetings and new friends,Sorry dear charity shop, this is where it ends. The tee shirt has to stay with me, you can have my jeans instead,A shirt with awesome memory, Skabilly is what it's bled.A tattoo is different, it stays it's life with you,But if I gave away my Skabilly shirt, my life would be so blue.My tee shirt is now in a frame, with a music set compilation,A shirt so anti anger, but can cause some wild consternation.I like to thank The Skabilly Rebels, travelling up and down the nation,But thank you for giving us Skabilly, Mr Roddy Radiation.Bernie Logue
