Bobby Dee Cassidy 1859 ~ 1884 Murdered in The Street
In the south in Arizona, Tombstone to be precise,Lived a beautiful southern belle, was made of all things nice. The cowboys thought her a special girl, they bowed and tipped their hats,And when she winked on passing by, cowboys became diplomats. Bobby Dee Cassidy, an angel or just a vision,With dark red hair and deep blue eyes, a cowboys dream commission. Her pale white skin, her glowing smile, her gown just flowed with flair,Those pouting lips as she glanced at you, just made you stop and stare. She wore a rose above her left ear, her lips they glistened in the sun,The talent that she carried, her dresses all home spun. Her tan brown stockings with pencil line, caught the cowboy's eyes,As she strutted in her high heel shoes, her brolly gave her some disguise. Bobby worked in the grand hotel, upstairs if you see what I mean,A madam of the night time, the sights you should have seen. For all the whores she managed, she got a dollar and a dime,But the girls that did the work, well a cut paid for the time. At one side of the town, lived a cowboy named Bart Brent,Had his eye on Bobby Dee but competition there was meant. The other side of town a rival man was in love too,No one crossed Jed Levi, and all the locals knew. Tombstone is renowned for gunfights, I guess you all know this,But this is no ordinary duel, it's for Bobby Dee to kiss. The bone yard just upon Boot Hill, it shows a local story,The man that wins Bobby Dee Cassidy's hand, will be covered in her glory. The story In eighteen seventy nine, two friends rode from Santa Fe,All the way to Tombstone, to find silver they hoped and prayed.Bart and Jed were lawmen, like the “Earps”, they wanted more success,A boom town on the up, they didn't want no less. Bart bought a saloon bar, just inside the south of town,And Jed opened up a livery, where cowboys brought their horses down.Business there was booming, they met every single night,They tossed the drunks out the bar, and broke up the usual fight. They joined up their local business', together they prospered well,In the first three years of amalgamation, they built a grand hotel. They handed in their badges to the local sheriff office,But things were getting out of hand, the town was nearing lawless. A gang rode in from El Paso, made up from Mexicans and rebels,It didn't take them long to cause trouble, some did fill the cells. They turned the grand hotel into some kind of place where they'd all meet,And all the locals in the town, kind of voted with their feet. The sheriff rounded up a posse, to regain some peace about the place,But a Mexican Jose Angel Francisco, shot him through the face. The gang struck fear into the town, Bart and Jed were all that's left. The townsfolk stayed away, were scared and quite bereft. Jose's friend a cowboy, named Billy Munn “the gun”Had riled a lot of people and both were on the run.But Bart knew Billy from sixty three, they were confederate friends,Billy deserted the eleventh Mississippi back then, now Bart wants to apprehend. He called him out into the street, from the grand hotels quiet bar,Told him he'd have to come peacefully, but he didn't have his star.Billy drew his forty five, and fired at Bart's head,But a shot rang out from behind Bart, and Billy lay there dead. It was Jed, Bart's best friend, then questioned Bart's reason,You cant go around shooting folk, it's not an open season. So engrossed in all this crime, I thought I could arrest him,Then I realised I couldn't do it, as the law I'm no more within. Bart told Jed to mind his own, and split a thriving partnership,Jed warned Bart it's ended and didn't want to hear his lip. They separated in the town and just glanced as they walked past,Nobody ever reckoned it would come to this, the friendship they had cast. Bart went back to what he did, and Jed just did so too,Sat on opposite rocking chairs at the swing doors, tobacco they did chew. The grand hotel was Bobby Dee's, the boys just gave her it,I think they had a penchant for her, they had done they're bit. Both the boys fancied Bobby, and now and then they stole her kiss,Making sure the other seen it, scoring points to reminisce.Bobby sat on Bart's knee, her arms around his shoulder,While Jed's eyes were fiery green, if only he was bolder. But one day Bobby straddled Jed's knees, upon his rocking chair,Her arms tightly gripped around his neck, and her heavy breathing in his hair.Bart coming from the barber shop thought, what is this I'm engaging,And the more he stared at Bobby Dee, the more he started raging. Everything went to pieces, Bart lost the will of peace,And called the gang from the bar and told them they would cease.Jed couldn't let Bart do this, he couldn't leave him on his own,The boys stood side by side, this gang was going down. Now you've heard of the famous gunfight, the one at the OK Coral,This a similar episode with two boys and their gal.Another fight in Tombstone where the locals will get the thrill,The undertaker on the make, as he prepares the gates at Boot Hill. The guns they started blazing, wood chip everywhere,Ricochets and smoke, broken glass, the pastor said a prayer.Jed took one in the leg, Bart his arm got hit,As the Mexican and rebel band all died, with the blood in Jose's spit. The two cowboys stood up, standing yards apart,Each claiming each other, had broke each others heart.Bobby tried to calm them down but their minds had been made read,One will win Bobby's hand and one will wind up dead. Bobby was in turmoil, she didn't want this day,She ran into the bar for a kerchief, to wave their duel away. But as she ran between them, with the kerchief raised high into the air.Two bloodstained circles bled from within her deep red hair. The boys looked at each other and dropped their guns beside their feet,They're stunned looks of such a crime brought the sheriff to the street. The posse then soon followed, for the boys it was looking dire,A piercing scream from the hotel, as the posse opened fire. Bobby knew she was pretty and attention was her desire,She wasn't interested in playing house, but still set hearts on fire.Jed and Bart were silly, they didn't see through the thrill,The jealousy of this pretty girl, had sent them to Boot Hill.
