Bad habits

~ If you had said it once moreI wouldn't have been able to let you go again. ~ I walked through town the other day, The palm of my hands to my very fingertips were shaking, Because I couldn't hear a thing that I was seeing. The smiles of young college students, Friendship groups of three,The pitter-patter of a toddler's feet trying to keep up, The rustling of branded shopping bags brushing against the thigh, I couldn't hear a thing that I was seeing. Like losing taste when you've got a cold, Everything is awfully bland. Picking up my pace now, Walking to an irregular beat,Wanting to get away from trendy crowds, Fixing my eyes on the ground, Taking practiced steps until I'm back in the bedroom, I've been here many times before, When everything is too much, I'll put the world on mute,And I don't try to change, Just like my bad habits, And those words you used to say, And the low hum in your moan,And the way your body responds to my voice alone, ~ If I got to hear it all once more, I can't promise that I'd stay away ~ Returning to all those moments, Wanting to return to you, We've down this road before, Taken those practiced steps, Baby you're my worst, bad habit.
