It’s 3am, I‘m alive
It’s 3am and I’m alive Lying on my stomach With one arm folded beneath To feel my heartbeat And with my head turned to the left My eyes rest their blurred sight on the other arm As my hand traces the floral patterns of the pillow It’s a glassy night The curls of my hair fall over my forehead And I’m reminded By the beat of my heart And the shadows of the night And the hues of grey that outline everything in this room And the memories of what I recall to be yesterday And discouraging hopes of what might be tomorrow I am reminded by all of these things That I am alive Life is so much more real when You’re laying in bed at night With only the sounds of your heartbeat and breath to regulate the stillness And still The stillness is louder Why do I feel the most alive here In the occasion that I wake at night Finding my self sprawled out on my bedWith my blankets in disarray In a moonlit darkness I am most alive
