I write to you

I look for you in all the other guys, I know it ain't right, but... you were the first person I ever really liked.

I saw today pass me by, I wrote and wrote, Listened to the stillness of time, I heard it tell the laundry, the plants and the shadows to hang still, And so they did, And then I sat here, watching the tones in the sky change hue, I think my writing had no real direction, I wrote about anything, But now, all I can write about are the conversations I shared with you, And in your absence I got to thinking,  'Alaska' 'The forever roadtrip' 'Tarot' 'Though you'll never hear me say it''Things I should have told you'I wrote them all to you, Do you remeber that little book I filled, The one with the sparrow, Sometimes I think that writing as if I were speaking with you, Is the only thing that gets me through the day,  You know, I like to believe that you've forgotten all about me by now,It's the only way I can keep writing without feeling pitiful, Remeber when you thought telling me was the wrong choice?I told you that it wasn't, It wasnt, But it ended us.  And although I knew people come and they eventually pass us by, Maybe not the next day, but in time, I didn't think you'd go so soon,  Clouds don't pass by slowly when you watch them closely, It's unsettling,  But you were a comfort to me, I talked to you so candidly sometimes, Told you things I couldn't ever say out loud to my closest friends, So now I write to you, And that is the only comfort I sometimes get to feel, Everything else is fraught with difficulty and stress, Except my memories of you.
