The Nightingale Song
According to folklore Nightingale’s song is associated with loss and sadness.
The ambulance pulling up my driveway was frightening.Am I seriously ill? Will they admit me to hospital? The paramedics asked me questions and I couldn’t even speak. They completed their investigations. My heart is working fine,Nothing is abnormal I heard them say. That was the best news I heard in a long time.I had lots of medication stuck in my gullet. The capsules were clinging on to it,I was unable to swallow anything.I felt sick and wanted to throw up,I was perspiring and had difficulty in breathing,I had one mighty panic attack.Thank God there was no need to admit me to hospital. I needed assistance to get back on my feet again. But who is there? It was then my neighbour stepped in to help. She messaged me to find out what was wrong with me.She moved as lightning to help me,Carrying a cup of coffee from across her house. She would have looked like The Lady with the Lamp. She was very concerned, caring and had so much empathy.Hurried to the shop and pharmacy to get my med,Made me a chicken salad to get my strength back,I hadn’t any nourishment for three days. She sat with me for a while,Said that I’d be back to my old self soon,It felt reassuring. She visited me the following day,She did more shopping for me,Kept in touch by sending me messages. THANK YOU Jane for being such a kind caring neighbour.I never had a good neighbour like you in my life. It’s extra special and I’m lucky to have you as a neighbour.Neighbours like you are hard to find these days, certainly I do.I will never forget your kindness,If there was any help you need, I’d be the first to step in.There are still Nightingales around!
