This is a fantasy poem. A big part of my life is still very childlike. I think most of us have that child part in our lives to a different degree. Some recognise it, some don’t, and others deny it. I love to experience that part of my life more as the world changes to unhappiness. This poem is written with children and forest animals in mind.
Let me hibernate in a hollow treeWith hedgehog, rabbit, and mice familyWhen the harlequin touches it’s magic wandThe earth covers with a carpet of pearlsI’ll have tea with my forest friendsThe world would be white instead of green. When night falls elves and fairies joinRing the jewelled bells of flowers and do their danceWith the moon watching and starry showers fallingI gaze in wonder as the white flakes flyDancing and swirling through the airWith the elves and fairies like a ballerina. All is calm when the sun arrivesBlanket of snow glistening in the morning lightRobins fly carrying garlands of red berriesLeft by the fairies the night beforeI would love to spend my Christmas timeIn the animal world in the absence of human friends.
