The Magic of Autumn
I haven't written much this year. I'm finding it a bit difficult to concentrate due to illness. My thanks to the former Bard of Buckinghamshire for his encouragement.
As I stepped out of the front door I could see sun rays in sparkling gold. They touched the autumn leaves fallen on the grass and looked so magical. There was a mixture of large and tiny leavesFrom the two trees standing side by side. There was something missing,No birds pecking on the bird feed nor their cheerful singing.Looks like some of them have already flown to the east for warmer weather. But here it was bitterly cold. I walked through the woods with my boots squelching.Underneath the mud, more brown leaves already decomposed due to heavy rain.Beyond the meadow, the tall thin trees had lost most of the leaves, except a bit on the top. They looked like the trees were wearing hats to keep the sun away! I reached the main road with trees on either side. The trees were mostly bare and their leaves were covering the pavement,In vibrant colours of yellow, orange, red, purple, and brown. Some leaves were falling and some flying in the wind trying to reach the sky. Autumn brings many kinds of weather,Some days raining with grey skies looking so dull,Windy days to help trees to shed their leaves and slumber in Winter,There were even the odd days for us to soak up the last remaining sun.
