To all single mums who are doing a wonderful job, keeping their family together with love and care.
It’s a long day, I need to go homeThe day’s work is done, I have a long way to walkMy kids would be worried, and looking for foodThe nights are chilly, the fire needs to burn. The walk through the woods can be creepy in the coldThe shadows of trees look ghostly in the darkA taste of dampness lingers in the breezeThe crescent moon peeped to guide me home.My woolly cape and scarf around my headMy basket full of food to keep my kids’ tummies fullI picked some wild mushrooms as I walked homeThe owl hooted so pleased to see me reach home.I was happy to see the lights burning as I reached homeMy kids all hugged me, happy to see me homeMade me cups of tea to sooth my weary nervesThey started on dinner while I soaked in a hot bath.My life as a single mum is demandingI make sure my kids are clean and well fedKeep them well behaved and happyI would never want to change my life for anything else.
