Shiny Bangles

I'm writing this poem after reading Elizabeth's poem 'It's only a feather' and Marisha's 'Bicycle test'. I made up the ending of my poem to sound better. Thank you Elizabeth and Marisha. The poem avatar is me when I was 6. The picture of the bangles are from Pinterest.

I was just sevenWhen I went shoppingWith my big sisterTo look at some bangles. In the town pavementVendors had stallsSelling pretty banglesWhich was a crazeAt the time.Shiny banglesDifferent coloursDifferent sizesDifferent widthAll looking at me.In the bright sunshineThey were gleamingLike crown jewelsBut they were onlyShiny coloured plastic.I loved bangles. They were whispering“Buy me, buy me”“I would look good on you!”I thought I picked oneBut it was a bundle of banglesTied up togetherWith a price I couldn’t afford.I took them homeAnd showed my motherThe bundle ofBangles I stole.I’m so ashamedTo write the phrase“I stole” on this poemIt’s just not like me!After a lengthy lectureMy mother took them backPaid the vendorBrought them homeBut didn’t give them to me.To this dayI do not knowWhat happenedTo those bangles.I think she presentedTo someone worthyFor a special birthdayAnd didn’t tell meAs she didn’t want toHurt Me!
