Lockdown Cricket
For those of you who are not familiar with the game of cricket, 'The Ashes' I refer to at the end of the poem is a series of matches played between England and Australia roughly every two years.
They came from the west, they came from the east, and even from down under. They came from across the Irish Sea leaving the pot of gold.To the troubled land of the virus, to play the game they love.In the spirit of the game of cricket, behind closed doors. We thank the West Indies, who stayed in their bubble for long. The shortest trip was made by our Irish friends from Europe.Next came Pakistan, who appealed after every ball.Last came the arch-rivals, in the form of yellow and green. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts, for entertaining us.Where England players reached milestones, and proud moments they were.Goodbye to our Aussies friends, who are leaving us today.Have a safe trip back home, we’ll meet you again in The Ashes!
