Leopard Shoes

Goodbye my leopard pumpsSat in the corner shop shelfLooked so trendy and cheapSuited my empty purse. Two years ago you beamed my feetWith my orange shorts in Ely TownDogs thought you were their kindMy companion in many a land. In Summer Autumn Winter and SpringWith or without my socks on feetKept them cool when weather was warmFrozen toes when weather was cold. In Autumn rain you were soakedIn puddles and muddy land in woodsWater seeped on to my solesI went home with very cold toes. We walked in the snow and left your printsYou didn’t moan on slippery floorsYou were covered in snow and left outsideYou stayed out in the cold overnight. You were worn out and had a bald patchSame as your owner losing her locksMy pocket had hole by the dreaded fluCouldn’t part with you as funds were low. Your sole is finally leaving youI can not now hold on to youAs sad as I am having to let you goIt would be difficult to replace you.
