Desolate Souls
I wrote this poem in June 2022 at the heights of the Russian/Ukrainian War. Britain was celebrating our late queen's Platinum Jubilee. I was rather ill and feeling low during a time when people were celebrating.
This poem is for the desolate souls out there for whatever reason.
I’m in pain but no one knowsI feel hopeless but no one hearsThe world is too busyTo hear my plea I feel the vibes of desolate soulsA thousand cries beyond the seasA simple prayer, a positive thoughtHealing thoughts is all they ask Out in the war zone, under battlefieldI hear the gun fire over my head.I live in fear with no tomorrowWould I ever see the day light again In another land under the scorching sunI stand for hours to buy some foodMy kids are starving and wait for meWhat do I tell them when I go empty hand We didn’t have a choice to be born in this worldBut we have many a choice once we’re inDecisions to make myself and others happyDid I make wrong decisions or were my choices taken away
