Climate Change
I wrote an article on climate change.
When I was writing it as a poem, I wanted to make it more poetic with imagination. So I added the 4th verse. I'm not sure if that verse should be there. It somehow looks out of place. Perhaps, it would have been better if I wrote that verse as a separate poem.
See what you think!
Mother Earth is unwellwith a slow cancer spreading. She cannot control the climatecries for help from her children. They don’t hear her painfeed her with carbon poison. There’s no help from the seawhose closing in on her wealth. Her body is getting hotas poison trap sun beams. Her ecosystem is brokenplants and animals in danger. Let us help mother earthto recover from her illness.A group of so called leadersflocked in the Scottish City. They came in private jetshelicopters, and limousines.Travelled in four wheel drivesas if going to Hebrides.Have you seen their many mansionswith much energy consumption? Are they really helping our motheror chocking her some more? We’re all responsiblehurting our mother. With new technology emergingcarbon monoxide on increase. Can we ever repay mother earthfor the damage we have caused? We can use our hands, and feetand use less machines. Can we time travel backto pre-industrial days? But we can all try in small waysbut is that really enough? Black clouds start to sweeplike monstrous ghouls and ghostslooking for space they can hauntand drink the last drops of water.Mother earth coughs, splattersand chokes with no clean air.As she sheds her last breathshe sees a vision of the earthwith all its beauty land and seaspastures, and hills and clear sky.All living creatures in harmonyexcept humans who she loved most. Perhaps in a million yearshumankind may have beengenetically modifiedbreathing carbon dioxide!Working as robots, building machines.Anything is possible in futurebut it’s not the world for me.Maybe the world would endbefore becoming inhumane.Or would we find a curefor our mother to breath clean airand have a safe ecosystem?
