My first published poem (thewritersmagazine) . It was inspired by the multiple news stories of migrants from all over the world seeking a new life, often by no choice of their own.
If I stay home I will starveIf I remain where I grew up I will be poorIf I linger where my roots are violence will take meIf I refuse to leave I will be forced to do dreadful thingsIf I knock on your door It's not because I want toIt's because I want to live
