A Destructive Joy
I know the things I do hurt meBut I'm not a masochistThe joy is in living with the things I can't resistI know I can be better and thriveMaybe I'll get there one day and I'll be more aliveI'm too hard on myself and that's a factWe're all flawed in various ways, and we know thatI inflict pain upon myself and not onto anotherWhat I do with myself is my wish so don't botherYet the very pain I cause on myself does hurt the ones that don't only love themselvesSo really there is going to be pain regardless of what this poem may saySo it's foolish to think we can escape this pain because that would be insanityLet's use it to our advantage and wash away any chance of our calamityThe joy in which we seek should be guided by the wiser and the strongIf we ignore the words they speak we'll regret it when they're gone after not too longOur joy is sacred and it has to be nurturedIf our view of joy is skewed it will lead us astray and poorly venturedThis joy can be destructive or beautifully creativeTake careLife can be what you make it
