The Darkest Ones
I’ve begun to see things in the dark.Darker things that slide with liquid movement.I see them even when I try so hard not to look. Eyeless, long limbed, somehow grinningFaceless, greed of light and always past a corner. My fear is like a black gloved hand squeezing. Flicker! In and out! There to be the ones who reachAnd reach and never touch but always reaching. My stomach plummets with the horror of a touch. I know, I feel that they are not really there,I hold that thought like diamonds in my hand,But the truth is that I feel them in the airAnd they will take my breath if they but can.
