Jack Groundhog

Crux

Twinkle, twinkle, gilded cross,I remember what I lost:a guiding star in sable night, compass rose aligned with right. When the risen sun is dimmedby dawn clouds red, unmoved by wind,I write a book that’s bound by frost:twinkle, twinkle, gilded cross. I travel, stumble in the dark,my lantern hooded, lacking spark:where hands were joined by two gold rings, they split apart. A dirge I sing. Depart from blue skies that we madetogether, which now waver, fade:on sands, the bridal veil is cast asideand lost in rising evening tides. Twinkle, twinkle, gilded cross,I shan’t mourn what now is lost.I find a boat and set my sailto leave the shores and fly with whales.
