The Wall

With daring on this crumbling wallthe slugs and snails will slowly crawlThrough Buddleia's spread wide and talla few miles from the urban sprawl. When skies are blue and breezes blandand planting out is neatly plannedabout fertile and luscious landthe Phlox and Hollyhocks are spanned. The morning sun gives quite a boonto Goats beard that will die at noon,While skylarks in the trees will croonand Daisies dance to summers tune. A Rambling rector climbs the wallits fragrant flowers white and small,A frame for insects - dense and tallthat leave red hips in Autumns fall. Borders crammed with budding flowersshows someone's toiled for hours and hours,Above - the Lily overpowersas down below lobelia cowers. And here on fresh cut grass I lieJust looking up at cloudless sky,As hardened world flows quickly byI breath a long contented sigh. E Harvey 18/10/2020
