The First Fall
It always amazes me how all of a sudden there are autumn leaves on the ground and I never seem to notice them beginning to fall...they are just suddenly there.
Today I saw the first of the autumn leaves fall,They seemed to come from nowhere,Scattered before me on the ground.Like the aftermath of a wedding, Where all that's left showing it happened is confetti covered ground.Fallen leaves;Crisp, crunchy, orange.Like something from Quality Street. They hadn't been there earlier; When I left the sun shoneAnd we drove by fields of green; It was like my day had different seasons. And I had set off in summerAnd came back in fall.
