The 3/4 Journey

Saturday was move back into halls day at uni for my son.
It was an eventful day to say the least with two cars going on the journey and only one making it there...

And Linda...you said it sounded like a poem...

The car was packed the boot was fullThe summer time was through, The time had come to head awayTo Uni for year two...There was so much stuffThe need was there to take another carTo get the boy and all his stuff To there...from where we are. And so we headed off a two car journey tripWith his wee maw in the second car, biting on her lip.Sad to see her wee boy goBut keen to help him move,And so they all settled offTo get into the groove. Now car one - with all the luggage,Had made the journey without fussAnd landed in St Andrews safe,Thinking that's where they'd meet us.But for car two, things did not goAccording to our plan,And found us pulled into a laybyBeside a camper van. The car was belting from the back,Some smoke as white as it could be,And looking from the mirrorIt was all that we could see.All that we could think ofAnd all that we could hope,Was that it wasnae coming fae oor carBut... there may be a new pope. We pulled into this layby To let the car cool down,But the engine made a funny noise Which only made us frown. The engine it was rattling now And it was clear that we were stuck,And we were towed back to Glesga toonAll aboard An AA truck. And so the boy, now in St AndrewsWas without his laptop bag,And had to head back home again.Which he clearly found a drag. But alas, a silver liningHe was home another dayAnd we got to go back up with him, In car one the following day!
