That Little Girl...

I stopped in the park on the way to the doctors this morning. Half way mark between my house and the surgery

Where is that little girlWho once climbed upon these framesWho swivelled round that roundaboutAnd played her childish games Where is that little girlWho's laughter filled the airAs sun shone warm upon her cheeksSo radiant and fair Where is that little girlWho swung upon these gatesWho climbed on shutesAnd swung on swingsFrom morning until lateWho played on rocksAnd walked the greenWhere old folks used to bowlWhere is that little girlThe one from the days of old Where is that little girlWho would climb upon the fenceReluctant for to jumpBecause she was so tense  Where is that little girlThat from the window could be seenHanging from that same old fenceIn forty shades of green Where is that little girl She crossed my mind today As I sat down in the spotWhere once she used to playI used it as a stop gapTo get from A to BAnd I couldn't help but think ofThe way things used to beWhen I didn't have to catch my breathOr sit down to rest my kneesI could walk and run and jump aboutAnd do just as I please  It didn't seem that long ago It's just like yesterday to meAnd suddenly without warning—that little girl is me.
