Road Block

We have a road block on our street... Seems apt for the name of poem too.

Sometimes you just writeTo see where the words will go, Sometimes you know just what to sayAnd sometimes the words will flow. Sometimes your stuck and thinkingAnd words they just won't come, And you have to pack up page and penAnd leave the piece undone. Sometimes there is so much to sayAnd just no time to say it, Sometimes the papers absolutely fullSometimes there's just a bit. Sometimes the piece is well thought out, And it's planned just what to saySometimes it's just a ramble, And it's better off that way. Sometimes a ramble will uncoverA place where we can start, And we can just write nonsense - Or we can write straight from the heart. Sometimes 'sometimes' isn't good enough Sometimes we want it to be more, We want the words to flow so freelyThey're flowing out the door. Sometimes 'sometimes' is a blessing And it let's us make a start, Where we can write for the sake of writingAnd not need to pull it all apart. So I've started off with nothingTo see where it would go It seems no thoughts, no words, no leads, Still travels, don't you know! So don't be stuck for writingWhen you hit that writers block, Just go off on a rambleAnd give the bloody thing a shock!
