Photo Addict
Challenge poem
Hands up.Guilty as charged your honour. There is nothing I love more than photographs. Well, there is some things I love just as much, if not more —My son for one. And chocolate. And wine. And definitely whisky. But photographs have the edge on three of them; For one, they don't melt. And they don't add calories, though folk are always saying the camera adds 10lbs. They also say the camera never lies. But it really does. Huge big whoppers. It never used to. Nowadays, people rarely show unfiltered photos. They immortalise themselves forever in a moment of time that shows them with skin that looks as though it has been honey glazed, And widened eyes that shine like the brightest of diamonds. Little do they know that when they are not here, All that will be left of them are memories captured within a frame. And those bequeathed those images, would rather they were authentic. Unfiltered. Photographs are magical. They capture something in a fraction of a second, This small particle of time that's gone the instant your finger is removed from the button,And yet it remains.Like blueprint;Of the time you laughed. Of the time you danced. Of the time you lived. Existing in the world long after you are gone. My addiction to photographs began long before filters. I don't snap meals. Or drinks. Or filter myself to look like Tinkerbell. I snap life. Moments. Family. Things I know I could lose at any moment. And they become priceless. Moments that when you see them, take you back in time. To the crossroads of life. Where things were perfectly perfect. Unchanged. Taken just as they were in the moment they were captured. Where filters were not needed. And you seen every wrinkle. Every grey hair. Every smile. And it's real. And it's beautiful. And it's life, well lived. These are the real gems.
