Have You Seen the Apples...

Inspired by Olga' s lovley phrase "have you seen apples on the lemon tree"

Have you ever seen applesGrowing on the lemon tree, Do you know that it's an illusion— just like what you are to meHave you ever seen the grass grow, On a busy streetOr seen tears behind the laughterIn the people that you meetHave you seen the thunder falling, Or ever heard the pure white snowHave you looked for the rainbow coming— instead of watching for it goHave you ever stayed awake all night, To watch a loved one sleepOr thrown away old memories— that you should perhaps keepHave you picked a daffodil in winterOr dressed a Christmas tree in spring, Seen a robin with no red breast, A nightingale that didn't singHave you ever seen the sun fall— instead of watch it riseIs the setting of the moonSomewhere you would lay your eyesHave you ever danced when lonely, Or laughed when you were sad, Made friends with grief and sat with it— until your heart was gladWe're the same but we are different, In what we do and see;Have you ever seen the applesOn a lemon tree.
