All of us who love and understand something of this beautiful Earth of ours sometimes will dispair, and Canadian forest ecologists like myself are no different. Though I have made the study & conservation of natural places, native plants and wildlife my life work, years ago I came to see how deficient the language of science, alone, is to describe the miraculous beauty in all of Nature. I began to write love poems for the planet.
The writing has been a deeply personal pursuit. My prayer. And my 700+ unpublished poems keep piling up. I hope they reflect a timeless reverence for this Earth – our Mother – and a conviction to return to a spiritually deeper, more humbling, understanding of our inter-dependent place within the delicate webs of Life. Whether in an old-fashioned rhyming style, or in streams of consciousness, I look forward to sharing some of my poems here and to benefit from constructive criticism. My goal is to get some published (in support of some good ecological cause) and to introduce more readers to the inspiring inner places where Nature, Beauty and Mystery still meet.
