The Singing Trees
Forest music
I lie on the forest floor,Close my eyes,Hear the singing of the trees. The resonant baritone of the oak,Three tall beeches in tenor harmony,The silver sweet song of the birch.Too near,The uncouth rapping of the dandelions,Soon overwhelmed by the skirl of the ancient Scots pine. All these sounds fade in the twilight. At last, the soft, caressing song of the wild rosesLulls me, Lulls me,Lulls me Tomorrow I shall lie and listen to Their verdant perfume. My first shot at a nature poem. Whaddya think?
