Juliet and Me

Pentameters?

Fiddly dee, my actor's life beganThe moment that I stepped out on the stage. From then my course was set, my lamp was lit,Third urchin in Bart's "Oliver". A pageIn some forgotten melodrama.? WhereDid this addictive passion have its source?I'd a talent. To amuse was pleasantBut my drama teacher taught me howTo enter Julia's part, and bring her heartAcross the footlights. That was when I knewMy path was plain, though I'm most clearly not.In fact, like many others of my craftI am ambiguous, hid behind my mask. I was later called on to direct.Godot arrived and so the play was wrecked.I was cracked, sacked ,my fingers burnt,So I learnt, and now they know my name.( I expect Will Shakespeare had the same Experience on his ladder up to fame.) I was the greatest Lear the world has seen,But now I'm just regarded as aSadOld queen. Just shot at writing in a more formal style, Mostly memories of English lessons 70 years ago.o.
