Famly Trees

Lessons from nature

I took a little walk to meet my favourite family,Old Father Oak and his lovely Chestnut wife.Merely standing by them I hear words of ancient wisdom.Through so many years they’ve seen so much of life.Big Brother Beech, standing tall and straight. He’s an inspiration for anyone to see.Teaching everyone who passes not to deviate,He’s the perfect pattern of a tree.Others of the clan are much more easy going,Sister Alder, Cousin Willow, dipping fingers in the stream,But Auntie Elm is watching them and doesn’t let them stray too far.She reminds them that they’re members of a very special team. When I pass by I listen to them whispering to each otherSecrets that no human understands.Perhaps when I’ve departed they’ll sing a little songOr even join a stately arboreal dance. We can learn so much if we listen to their music.Trees can start out low but they’re always aiming high.Let’s care for trees they way that they all care for us.Without them everyone on earth would die.
