You Will Not Take This World From Me
A poem about the need for nature. Too much time is taken by unnatural things. Its easy to forget that our world is an amazing place
You will not take this world from meYou do not see the things I seeNo longer us or them or weNature's all I want to see To bloom and grow so wild and freeUnpeopled far as eye can seeThrough uncut field and shade of treeThis is where I long to be Cowslip, corn, grass underfootEach step replaced by other putA barn still stands, but only justIts insides out and warn by rust Each stile I cross a brand new viewGrass kept short by those that chewAnd bleet and bah and walk and restLeaving trails which time will test Step down upon your aging shadowTowards the green and yellow meadowAnd left to start directions newAs those in nature often do This fields harvest all but doneAll fields walked soon overrun With harvesters that must be fed By golden corn to bails and bread Energised by morning sunMay all my days be so begunMay all my noons be homeward boundAnd grounded now in nature's sound You will not take this world from meYou do not see the things I seeNo longer us or them or weNature's all I want to see
