We Are The Past, Present and Future
I keep coming across references to the 'Butterfly Effect' in what I'm reading and hearing. It seems that even the 'Butterfly Effect' itself is having its own 'butterfly effect' on me!
The Butterfly Effect is a term first used by mathematician, Edward Norton Lorenz in 1969 to describe the idea that small changes can have large consequences.
How much of someone's future Can we attribute to their past? If we miss a train to work one day How might that impact last? If we hadn't made that turningWould we have met that awful fate? If we hadn't looked them in the eyeWould we have ever got that date? Would we have ever got together? Does everyone have a spare? Would we be here on Earth today If past actions hadn't put us there? What impact do your actions Have on other people's lives? If every action has a reaction Is this how the past survives? If I walk along the street today And I smile at everyoneCould I start a revolution Unaware of what I'd done? If each action makes connections Inside each receiver's headChanging someone's bad feelings Into pleasant thoughts instead That thought becomes a mindset Affecting how they begin their day You see, everyone around you Could be changed by you today Every one of us can make a difference To other people passing byAs is written by philosophers About a simple butterfly We create waves all around usWe each have power in our wingsWe are the past, present, and future Our presence dwells in everything
