Unclenching Fist

Recognising what we have, amongst the many things we take for granted

If all the clouds Rained down on meAnd fell upon The open sea The water would Consume the landGrinding rock And making sand Every lake Or mountain streamWould then become A distant dream The earth would change Forever more Our homes upon The ocean floor All scrabbling roundTo stay afloatSome drown before They build a boat Some float and find The strength withinTo not let go And learn to swim Some give upSome never startThese floods would tear Our worlds apart We take so much For granted hereThe purpose of Our clouds unclear Until they are No longer thereSuddenly We start to care  We start to see How perfectly The world provides Humanity  With everything We'll ever need From crystal rain To tiny seed  From nutrients And oxygenAll that ends Begins again Just like the rain We rise and fallWe too are part Of nature's call In solid form Upon the landVapor rise And then disband Like a slow Unclenching fistWith gratitude That I exist
