I'd like to live a simple lifeTo go back to simple thingsThe sunrise in the morningThe song a blackbird sings A walk across the countrysideA desk where I can writeA telescope to see the starsOr a seat where sun shines bright Simple conversationsWith friends I've come to knowA meal around the table With those who come and go Clothes which fit foreverThat don't have to be replacedQuality over quantityIs where our money is best placed I don't need a flashy sports carI don't want for much at allWe are lost in our possessionsWe've lost our sense of sensible We are trapped within a cycleMore or less we are consumed I'm convinced that less is so much more The less convinced are surely doomed Take back these bleak black Friday'sEnticing those without to spendTo borrow more to bury sorrowAnd fill the pockets of those who lend We are reliant on each otherTo create and then digest Forever we consume thingsBut not always for the best The machine which keeps on churningKeeps on burning fossil fuelsTo make the things we throw awayIn never-ending spending rituals I'd like to live a simple lifeWith my simple needs fulfilled To not have to pay the piper Or have my better nature killed This is my abundanceBlack Fridays will not set me freeThe 'everything' I'm searching forIs in the art to simply be I'd like to live a simple lifeTo go back to basic thingsThe sunrise in the morningThe song a blackbird sings I'd like to live a simple life One which gives but not to getIt's simple when you think of itBut by Black Friday we forget
