These Lines of Poetry

Reflecting on the lines we write...

Looking back upon these linesIs like looking back in timeEvery verse a piece of usIn verse in prose in rhyme I don't forget intentionOr the theme of what I writeI don't forget the impulse That kept me up at night I don't look back regrettingThe words tied to my nameI don't write to be better thanOr write to get acclaim I write to let my feelingsSlowly dissipateI write in case you're readingAnd in a similar state I write to capture everythingFrom my own point of viewI write because sometimesIt is the only thing to do I write to focus in uponEverything we areI write because the universe Does not consist of just one star The stars may well outnumber usAnd each swims in its own spaceMy words provide a meaningTo the thoughts behind my face And there are many other stars Thinking different thingsSome emerge through musicIn the words a singer sings Music without words Provides the pillow for the headBut the lyrics to a song Are the body on the bed The essence of our natureCan be written in a songSometimes our words mean nothingSometimes we write them wrong But our words while gently floatingAre the beat, the bass, the trebbleThey announce our very beingThe hand which throws the pebble And as the pebble gently lands Into the lake of no returnCircles gently rippleLeaving these little lines we learn The lines we learn remain with usBecoming who we are Amongst these lines of poetry May the great ones travel far
