I Must Write You Down

I must write you downBefore your words escape my mindI must write you downBefore I leave those words behindI must write you downFor you belong here on my pageI must write you downAs on a line you will not ageI must write you downFor what you are is all I amI must write you downNot like a test or an examI must write you downFor we need to know of youI must write you downBecause that is what I doI must write you downFor in thought you are a seedI must write you downBecause of where a thought might leadI must write you downFor what I write might resonateI must write you downBecause I’m tired and it is lateI must write you downBecause you’re whirring round my headI must write you downTo put my thoughts and words to bed
