God's Holiday

God came to earth for a holidayto see how the children fare;they were playing in the gardenwhen she last left them there. With a flash, God appeared calling -sorry, it's been some time, but this world is one of my best,so I'm sure that you've been fine. Turning slowly, God looked aroundastounded with mouth agog, everywhere was stark desolation, plastic rubbish, filth and smog. What has become of my beautiful garden, rich forest, pasture and stream?Where are the myriad creaturesI created to share this dream? The priests gathered singing praisesoffering prayer and devotional song;just look at all our lovely temples, surely nothing can be wrong. God cried, oh my foolish children, they are but echoes of your greed, the beautiful world I createdis the only church I need.
