Falling
We stand in the sky,the earth beneath our feetthe only thing that stops usfalling into the stars. We glitter on the earth’s surfaceOur decadent glorylights it upGreat splashes and networkslike stars flung across the void It’s not just Mother Earth,it’s Father, Brother, Sister. Now we musty care forit as if a baby. Our damage as neglectful parentsthreatens our very existence. The planets that arethe Solar System’s equilibrium Have seen our child abuseand may very welltake our suffering planetaway from us. Left with an increasingly lifeless huskWe will ask ourselves“What did we do wrong?’The answer is“We did nothing.” Now everything is going.Drought is taking the riversThe polar icecaps are diminishingAnd the waste from Our selfish lifestylesIs taking species after speciesFlora and fauna.Left on our own We stand in the skyIgnored by the stars.
