The tattoo and the poet

This poem is dedicated to two absolutely superb tattoo artists Jason and Jenni Louise Butler and their tattoo studio Retribution tattoo.

My iron words can scar as deep as any wound Marr your soul indelibly with ease Poignant phrases fire your brain with sights and sound Set your mind spinning as I tangle twist and tease  I mark great adventures with permanence My coloured inks fantastic scenes displayVivid colours within a skin are so intense Pictorial messages and memories to relay  But rhyme and metered sorrow are of such renownMould emotions by their very sightJoy and trust and empathy or sadness written down Blood soaked penmanship or pure delight  And yet my charms protect the very soulThese skin inked runes ward off evil every day These heavy lines once bedded will exact no tollAnd keep your magic wordsmithing at bay  Well sir poet is there reason for your callI know your words are mighty spoken loudI cant find fault with your art yet prefer to draw The 'marks upon the wearer make them proud Should we allow this debate to stand and stir Do we have such wide opposing views Are you here seeking retribution sir  NO JUST PLEASE INK ME A TATTOO  An original work Copyright 30062020
